# Pricing

> Simple, usage-based pricing for the Sapient API.

* **\$2.50 per [Qualia](/api-reference/models) scan**, charged once when the scan completes. Failed scans are never charged. (Qualia is the default and only available model right now; Mary is temporarily unavailable.)
* The **first \$2.50 of usage each month is free** (one Qualia scan). After that, scans debit your prepaid deposit balance.
* **Prepaid deposit:** add credits in **Settings → API → Add API credits**. Credits never expire.
* A **paid plan** is required to mint an API key.
* **Enterprise:** [contact us](mailto:api@thesapientcompany.com) for volume pricing.

A scan settles the first time you fetch it complete via [Get a scan](/api-reference/get-scan). Current usage and balance are always visible in the portal under **Settings → API**, or programmatically via [`GET /v1/wallet`](/api-reference/wallet).
